Now I need to write a little story about myself here. Living in the Netherlands has pushed me to explore the world as much as possible, given that it’s a pretty boring country for whitewater or most other extreme nature sports. My study of earth sciences has shown me some interesting features of the dutch landscape but rivers with enough gradient cannot be found. In the morning I like to wake up with coffee, relax for 2 hours or so and then start my day. I think Kees van Kuipers has solved the problem (of Holland) pretty well working in Switserland in the summer and in Colombia over the winter. He is a icon for me, just living his life the way he wants and a damn good boater as well! In the future I would like to combine study and paddling, yes, that Volcano in Pucon is a damn interesting thing including all rivers around it…
2010 will be a year of creeking. Planning on a trip in April and spending the summer in Norway. See if I am allowed to go to the Europeans in April, then see if it’s worth to paddle in a little hole instead of some more time in Norway. I got this old 4 meter slalom boat here which I need to fix and then take that thing down the course, will be interesting. I just started training some juniors here and it looks promising. So watch out for some young Dutchies on the waters soon!
